It's been nothing but advancements for Julia Michaels. A couple years ago the celebrated songwriter started singing her own tunes and discovered her own voice suited them just as well as those artists she'd been penning hits for. That's when we made her our LIFT artist. She delivered some strong performances then, and recently stopped by our studios to knock out gripping versions of her new songs, "Hurt Again" and "Falling For Boys."

The music on Lorde's 'Melodrama' reflects the wealth of emotions the New Zealand native has experienced of late, and they’re rendered with the kind of poise we’ve come to expect from the pop superstar. Her voice, the melodies, the arrangements she’s chosen to help landscape her feelings - this critically-acclaimed second album is particularly fetching because the 20-year-old singer trusts her idiosyncrasies to fuel her eloquence. “Let’s let things come out of the woodwork,” she coos on “Homemade Dynamite.” That’s what makes the six performances of ‘VEVO X Lorde’ so powerful as well. All her best ideas naturally seep to the surface. Filmed at Electric Lady Sound Studios in New York’s West Village, the mid-August session found Lorde moving through key songs from ‘Melodrama,’ providing each with the proper temperament for the occasion. The set list features “The Louvre,” “Sober,” “Writer In The Dark,” “Supercut,” “Homemade Dynamite,” and “Hard Feelings”/ “Loveless” – she chose to spotlight some of the album’s most vivid moments. Whether backed by a small ensemble, playing the piano alone, or singing a cappella with a squad of vocalists and a beatbox, she brings invention and intensity to the performances. The soft addition of strings and brass adds to the show’s intimacy, and the drama that she’s built a rep on is central to every moment. Jack Antonoff of Bleachers, who produced and co-wrote parts of ‘Melodrama,’ arrives on “Writer In The Dark” to support his pal as well.

Zara Larsson - Talk About Love. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.

It's been almost six years since Zara Larsson performed "Rooftop" and "Uncover" for our emerging artist series, DSCVR. Back then, each video came with some fun facts. “Beyoncé is Zara’s biggest inspiration as an artist and performer,” was one, and it stands out. Since then, Larsson has emerged as a pop star that - like Beyoncé - channels her passion through a mix of powerhouse vocals, inventive dance moves and head-turning aesthetic choices. For proof, check her “Love Me Land” and “Talk About Love” vids. She recently performed the latter song in our new UK studio, and it was a treat to see her rock it with a full band. And, hey, that red suit is a LOOK. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Zara a few times since that first DSCVR shoot. This time 'round, she chose “Talk About Love." Her fans are gonna love seeing her in a live setting again.

My Summer Holiday 155 Days Building 1M Dollars Water Slide Park into Underground Swimming Pool House

Who we are?
We are a group of 4 friends who live in San Francisco, the United States of America. We worked together in a company. Currently, we just decided to quite our job and started our job as our hobby and dream job as builders. We love building. We got the same mindset actually. Recently, we just move to live in Oklahoma, the southern of the USA. I got a plot of land here, so we come and start making videos about how to build, how to survive, and mostly about the primitive skills in the jungle.

How does it made?
It’s been a while that we haven’t upload our new video. We spent 155 days to build such a goodness water slide park into a huge swimming pool. We got our master plan and an advance architecture design for the whole building structure. Actually, we are not architecture, we just love building especially the underground house and swimming pool.
Our water slide was built as a twin water slide and the shape is similar to the walking snake. We dug a big termite house to make two holes to connect with our water slide. Also this water slide is really unique in term of shape and art style.
The tunnel temple house was design as the Disney Land Temple and mix with our special new ideas by using only the small wood, the rice straw, and the clay to make the roof. Inside the house as a bedroom we got two beds which were the same style as a twin bed. The bed was design as a classic and unique style.
Everything was handmade, so the primitive tools that we normally used are hoes, shovels, trowels, axe, spades, and a machete.

How big is this building?
We separated this building into two parts. The first parts is about the water slide and the swimming pool and the second parts is about the underground house. The first part dimension is 9metres by 12metres and it is 4.5metres depth. The second part, underground house, dimension is 4metres by 4metres and the depth is only 4metres.

What’s next?
The next underground building project is going to be much more amazing and interesting than this. Please stay tune to watch the next episode.

Doja Cat - Say So - Live Performance (Vevo LIFT Live Sessions)

Welcome to the world of Doja Cat. Born and raised in L.A., the 24-year-old self-taught singer-rapper is a vet of sorts. The arts were central to her upbringing, and she started sharing her music on Soundcloud back in 2013. A year later she dropped her much-buzzed-about ‘Purrr!’ EP. Ever since, she’s nurtured an ever-growing array of feverish fans who revere her for combining a radiant charisma with unique flow and tongue-in-cheek lyrics (see: the irresistible“MOOO!”). Seems like Doja has designed her version of alt-R&B to take off in any direction she chooses. Tours with Lizzo and Theophilius London led right into 2018’s impressive ‘Amala,’ her debut proper, followed by last year’s ‘Hot Pink.’ That album’s “Say So” is currently clocking big numbers. Arresting visuals help. Her videos for both her radio juggernaut and "Rules" are wildly fun. When the Vevo production team united with the feline phenom to figure out performance ideas, the creative juices were flowing. The goal? Put the “cat” in Doja Cat - a decision that resulted in what’s probably our most ambitious studio build to date for a LIFT performance. For her “Streets” performance, we built Doja a massive bowl of 2%, where she was clearly in her element. And if that isn’t peak, then the human-sized scratching house of her "Say So" performance is. Dressed in full cat-ear regalia, she pawed her way through the two-story structure, purring the lyrics to her R&B throwback jam, which currently sits nicely in the Top 10 pop charts and is a smash hit for the spring of 2020.

Limitless imagination is a defining characteristic of great musicians - J Balvin proves that. The Colombian superstar’s passion for creativity explodes past mere music-making, and heads into the realms of visual aesthetics, fashion and pop culture. In the last decade, the Medellin native has helped turn his city, and Latin America in general, into the coolest place to be in pop music. He wears Pikachu hoodies with not-even-dropped-yet Yeezys while riding the tops of charts from Canada to Chile. And from Pharrell to Bad Bunny to Colin Tilley, the urbano/reggaeton hero works with the only best. Naturally, we wanted to collaborate with him. When our teams joined forces in Miami to capture these performances, Balvin’s iridescent ideas flowed like the Magdalena. Taking inspiration from ‘Colores,’ the teams worked with Rio-based Penique Productions to turn the interior of a mansion into a vibrant representation of each song’s hue. “Azul” is the color of the blue sea, a symbol of Colombia's coast. Balvin brings us into his world, telling us about a lady so radiant that her beauty burns his eyes. Stay tuned - more coming soon.

H.E.R. - Slide (Studio Performance)

Just close your eyes and listen. H.E.R.’s voice is so beautiful, it almost makes trying to describe it seem trivial. The Grammy-winning singer broke onto the scene in 2016 with an elegant approach to classic R&B. Her skills were right up front, but her career also enjoyed some initial thrust by her RCA labelmates Alicia Keys and Bryson Tiller, who publicly championed her debut EP, ‘H.E.R., Vol. 1.’ Eventually, her first two discs were combined and released as a full-length debut: ‘H.E.R,’ which gave us “Focus” and delivered the Daniel Caesar collab “Best Part” to the top of the Adult R&B charts. And how’s this for full circle: This year, Tiller was featured on “Could’ve Been,” from the Grammy-nominated ‘I Used To Know Her,’ and H.E.R.’s dedicated audience has grown big-time. After lots of touring and fest gigs, it seems like she’s on everyone’s radar these days. Strapped with a guitar and backed by some killer players, H.E.R. brought a vibey rendition of new single “Slide” to our NYC studio.
