A few years ago, Declan McKenna was somewhat of a rarity - a first-time artist arriving with numerous skills. Maybe it was the biting observations on poverty and religion of “Brazil” that had people deeming him an upstart. Maybe it was the parade of hooks the Hertfordshire native sprinkled throughout his songs. McKenna’s 2017 ‘What Do You Think About My Car?’ debut was packed with angular guitar parts and equally jagged philosophical thoughts. His follow-up record, ‘Zeros’ was delayed because of the pandemic, but now it’s here. His current mullet and makeup aren’t the only indicators that time has passed. One listen to the anti-war lyrics of “British Bombs” and the ego death going down in “You Better Believe” reveals a formidable songwriter who’s added depth to his always-impressive craftsmanship. Limitless imagination is a defining characteristic of great musicians - J Balvin proves that. The Colombian superstar’s passion for creativity explodes past mere music-making, and heads into the realms of visual aesthetics, fashion and pop culture. In the last decade, the Medellin native has helped turn his city, and Latin America in general, into the coolest place to be in pop music. Taking inspiration from ‘Colores,’ the teams worked with Rio-based Penique Productions to turn the interior of a mansion into a vibrant representation of each song’s hue. “Azul” is the color of the blue sea, a symbol of Colombia's coast. Digga D - Bluuwuu. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

There's no shortage of rappers who, for various reasons, find themselves on the wrong side of the law. Digga D, however, adds a unique chapter to the tradition of freely speaking your mind and suffering the consequences. It starts with the 2015 formation of the West London MC's drill collective, 1011. Barely a teen at the time, Digga and his crew gained notoriety throughout the city with raw tracks like “Kill Confirmed” and “No Hook.” Their rough and sometimes deeply specific lyrics put 'em on the cops' radar, and in 2017 a police stop-and-search led to charges of conspiracy to commit violent disorder. A Criminal Behavior Order forced the crew to remove their music videos from YouTube, many of which had amassed millions of views. Didn't solve much; fans just re-uploaded them. Then a judge ordered a ban on Digga using gang-related and violent lyrics in his music. According to the New York Times, other British drill artists have been handed similar orders. But Digga is unique in his growing popularity and massive potential. The 20-year-old recently recorded and released ‘Made In The Pyrex,’ the country's highest-charting album from a UK rapper born in the 2000s. The album proves two things about Digga. The fans are on his side, and his past hasn’t killed his future. Unmistakable in these Dscvr performances of “Bluuwuu” and “Gun Man Sound" is a fully unique flow and deep emotional force. Not hard to see why Digga's influence has such an impact.

The record-breaker kpop girl group Blackpink achieved another milestone. The music video for their collaboration song Sour Candy with lady gaga reached 100 million views on youtube. Sour Candy' audio has now surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, making Blackpink the first Korean act ever to have a Vevo Certified video. As expected blinks are monster streamers.
Vevo Certified Award honors artists with over 100 million views on Vevo and its partners through special features on the Vevo website. Vevo is the largest network of music channels on YouTube, with more than 450,000 videos from artists of all levels and genres. Over the last 10 years, fans have come to recognize the Vevo logo as a verified indicator of premium. Sour Candy is lady gaga's 26th video to achieve 100 million views on Vevo. And the first video by a kpop act. As well Sour Candy joins Kiss and makeup and Pretty Savage as the only audio songs without a music video to reach 100 million views. There’s a lot you can do with a whisper, and dodie has been refining the power of her hushed vocals for a few years now. On the new ‘Build A Problem’ album, the UK singer shows us how a pop tune can create gravity in a decidedly genteel way. “Four Tequilas Down” is a dreamy sketch of a song that delivers the kind of intimacy that has marked the 26-year-old’s work from the get-go. This ability to quietly charm listeners has garnered dodie a parade of kudos since she began uploading songs to YouTube channel a full decade ago - seductive little ditties at first, but songs of emotional impact, too. Her string of EPs, which began in 2016, revealed remarkable growth, and though she’s recently said that she checks out musicals such as ‘La La Land’ to absorb their flair, she’s still a pro at keeping things simple. Two of her most popular tunes, “She” and “Sick of Losing Soulmates,” couldn't be more pared down. Born in Fayetteville, NC, Morae Ruffin’s formative music moment was singing “I Believe I Can Fly” in church at the behest of his ma and grandma.
